In January 2013, Teo Ah Khing discovered through Andre Meier that the Hotel Alpina was up for auction. Subsequently, Andre acted on behalf of Teo and, at the auction of the Alpina on April 5, 2013, in Chur, successfully bidded for the hotel. Reporters from various local newspapers attended the auction, while the whole of Tschiertschen breathed a sigh of relief for the ‘Jewel’ of the village. Since then, a new day for the Alpina had been dawning.
