To ensure travellers enjoy the best of Swiss hospitality, the hotel has undergone a thoughtful restoration. The original traditional wooden Swiss- style architecture of the hotel, located at an elevation of 1,350m, is en ha nc ed with modern refurbishments and facilities for a comfortable and luxurious stay.
With an emphasis on an exclusive boutique hotel experience, there are only 20 double rooms and seven suites. The room interiors are made of Swiss pine, which is said to have health benefits and also emit a natural fragrance for a good night’s sleep. Most of the hotel rooms also come with balconies that offer awe-inspiring views of the valley.
The hotel has two restaurants offering a gourmet selection of international and Southeast Asian cuisine. The 60-seat Panorama Restaurant, which offers daily specials and Asian meals, is designed in a 1920s Art Deco style. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating with stunning views of the fairytale Swiss chalets dotting the mountain landscape for an unparalleled view of the Alps.

The a la carte restaurant La Belle Epoque is situated in the elegantly restored historic dining room of the old Alpina, which features a century-old design dating back to 1897. During the extensive restoration process, special care was taken to ensure that the artistic decor style would be preserved and reproduced accurately. With historic chandeliers and flickering candlelight, the elegant atmosphere is a perfect complement to the delectable gourmet food on the menu.
For something special, jazz performances are sometimes held in the restaurant to give guests the rare opportunity to wine and dine on the mountaintop while listening to exquisite music.
La Belle Epoque
Natural Swiss mountain spring water is piped into the Shan Spa, for luxurious beauty and body treatments infused with the healing benefits of nature. The Spa’s products are made of pure, natural ingredients and are administered by experienced therapists to guarantee a soothing and therapeutic experience for one’s body and mind. The spa facilities include a Finnish sauna, a herbal steam bath, a bio-sauna, an infrared cabin, a Via l,1ala thunderstorm path, an outdoor jacuzzi and a lounge with fresh fruit and healthy drinks. The spa is open to the public daily at specified times.
The name of our spa, the Shan Spa, already reveals much about our philosophy. Coming from Mandarin, translated into English, the word means ‘mountain nature’. Alpine herbs, relaxing massages, beauty treatments and Asian health applications, all individually designed for the specific needs of our guests, promise special relaxation sensations.
The opening night’s candlelit soirée was hosted by Teo Ah Khing and his wife Ivy Ng. Together, they welcomed government officials from Chur and Tschiertschen, as well as notable local and international guests headed by the above mentioned Professor Dr. Joseph Deiss, who is also the Chairman of the CHC International Advisory Council of the China Horse Club and former president of the United Nations General Assembly, the CHC’s lifestyle ambassador and renowned Chinese artist, Ms. Li Xiao Ling, Head of the department of Economy and Social Affairs, Cantonal Councilor Dr. Jon Domenic Parolini, Mayor of Tschiertschen-Praden, Mr. Werner Walser and, Head of the community building department Mr. Franz Grimm, and Head of the Cantonal Department of Economy and Tourism, Mr. Eugen Arpagaus.
An eastern flavour was added to the launch when traditional Chinese lanterns were launched into the sky, each one carrying letters of well wishes and prayers. The trail of red lanterns lit up Tschiertschen’s night sky, leaving an indelible impression on the guests. With such blessings showered upon The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa, the future looks bright indeed.
