Nowhere else in the world and in the near future will a grandstand as magnificent as Meydan will probably be realized. With at least 3.3 million square feet of built-up area and a capacity for 80,000 spectators built in a record three years time along with a menu of facilities unprecedented in design and planning, Meydan Grandstand sets the benchmark for any horseracing facility in the world.

At its inception, the grandstand was intended to be a worthy successor to the Maktoum and Millennium grandstands of the old Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. Meydan was designed to capture the spirit of both its predecessors and to address the growing sophistication of horseracing. Teo A. Khing Design Consultants Sdn. Bhd. (Dubai Br.) or simply TAK was appointed by Meydan in 2006 to masterplan and to design the new racing complex and to ensure its completion by 2010 Dubai World Cup a daunting task indeed.

The result was a master plan and an architecture design that far exceeded initial expectations but so captured the vision and intent of its most ardent patron – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Meydan Grandstand is the flagship development of Meydan City Corporation – the company tasked to oversee and implement the master plan, and architecture in a period of only three years!

In that short period of time and with the support of Meydan, TAK proved equal to the monumental task by creating a design that is unprecedented.
